DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR BLESSINGS!!!

Today I read an amazing story about a young man who went off to college, and he did a wonderful job in college. Since he came from a wealthy family, he told his father that for a graduation gift he would like a sports car. After his graduation, his father called him into his office and handed him a small box. Confused, the young man opened the box and found a Bible. The young man angrily stormed out of his father's office because he did not receive the sports car he desired, and he never talked to his father again. I won't ruin the ending of the story, and you can find it on my Facebook page at Inspirational Sayings and Blessings. However, the moral of the story is "Don't throw away your blessings!"

Sometimes in life we are given a blessing, and we might not even recognize it as a blessing until a much later time. For instance, certain situations that you may think are "bad" might be blessings in disguise in order to help you in the future. One time I met this young man who told me that when he was 16 years old his parents were on the verge of getting a divorce. He was an only child, and he thought it was devastating for the two people he loved the most to go their separate ways. Then one day, the mother found out that she was pregnant with the family's second child. The couple decided to stay together, and that young man who was an only child for 16 years told me that his family is closer today than they ever were in the past, and they have that new baby to thank for keeping it all together. Now, not all circumstances are the same, and I am only using that story as an example of one family's blessing in disguise.

Blessings can come into our lives in many ways. If you take the time to sit down and analyze your life, you will soon find that you are greatly blessed. So many times people focus on what they lack in life instead of focusing on what they have already been blessed with. When things do not always go your way, just remember that God may be blessing you in a different way. Don't be so angry that you did not get what you wanted that you throw a blessing to the wayside.
